As a lifelong resident of Texas, I’ve been working in the social work field for over for seven years. Currently I am the Owner/ Director of Giggles and Grins Learning Center, a State of Texas Licensed Child Care Center. We provide a small, home-like environment that allows infants, toddlers, and preschoolers to thrive, learn and feel nurtured. I believe that the first five years of a child's life are the most important years in their development. A solid childcare situation can promote healthy growth in children. The children at our center are given the opportunity to learn through various activities.
As a Love and Logic Trainer since 2004, I am a firm believer that children who are given the opportunity to grow through their mistakes and live with the consequences of their choices will be more self-confident, motivated and are able to solve their own problems when they meet life’s challenges.
In addition to running the daycare center I work as a Family Therapist for Cook Children’s Medical Center. As a Therapist in the psychiatry department, I provide family assessments, family therapy, crisis intervention, and telephone triage for inpatients, ER, and discharged patients.
I have worked as a Social Worker in various settings including Baylor Medical Center at Irving, Parkland Hospital, All Church Home For Children, and Child Protective Services. I’ve received training in family mediation.
I currently hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). I earned my undergraduate degree in Social Work from Texas Christian University.
I've been married to my wonderful husband Lonnie for almost 10 years and we have 5 beautiful children. In the past my husband and I were foster parents, and fostered a total of ten children. Advocating for children is my passion and that is why I have been a volunteer Child Advocate (CASA Volunteer) since 1999, advocating for children in foster care through the Tarrant County Family Court System.
I am active in my community, schools, Local, State, and National Day Care Association, Child Advocates of Tarrant County and McMoms (Mid-Cities Mothers of Multiples).
My hobbies include spending time with my family, attending my children’s school and sporting activities, taking the kids to the museum, to the zoo, going to coffee shops, board games, and I love to travel.
